Figures the moment that I set foot in Minnesota, I'd drop from the face of the planet. I know it's only been a week, but considering I was on LJ 5-10 a day, even if it was just reading other people's journals, to nothing for almost 2 weeks, this sucks. Especially since I really like to read up on how my friends are doing.
The drive here was good for the first part. We left pretty late on wednesday and drove as far as Destin (I think) Georgia before we checked into a hotel. We got up a little early and geared ourselves to make some serious ground thursday. Well, we did, for all technical purposes. Except that Dee Jay, wanting to make sure we made it there on time, decided to drive for the ENTIRE FRIGGIN night. Once we got to a point that we found familiar I got fed up and took several power naps. I was upset, but I still felt bad for Dee Jay, because he'd been driving for 24 hours straight and visibly tired. We got to the school at 8am friday morning. Dee Jay confessed that while I was sleeping he was crying a whole lot, partly out of frustration for not being able to sleep and partly to keep from passing out behind the wheel. I would've driven, but the car was so packed that if we moved the seats in any way, there'd be no guarantee we'd be able to put them back the way they were if we had to change places again. It was neat though. While we were waiting for our house keys, we were greeted by alot of former classmates and campus friends. It felt nice to be remembered ^_^
We are some serious pack rats, lemme tell you. We loaded our car with stuff, and then we drove 60 miles out to get the stuff we had in storage. We forgot all the crap that we had put away. It was even worse when we had to unpack it all in the apartment. Oh that's right! Dee Jay and I got to share a campus apartment! Ain't that cool? Anyhow, we started going through stuff and in no time, it looked like our place got thrown up on by a moving pod. We were walking on top of piles of boxes and trash; I took a good chunk of flesh off my foot for stepping on a hanger. It got to the point that there was no place to sit, let alone eat or even sleep. For the first 2 days I slept on the sofa and after than I slept on blankets over my bed because I didn't want to dirty my sheets with crap that I unboxed.
But I'm happy to say that we finally got EVERYTHING done. It's been a long weekend, but we got everything unboxed, put away and organized (well, for the most part) We have a little workspace and we put both our desks in there, I can finally have my easel up all the time, and it's decorated by a huge canvas that I can't wait to start painting on! I have some drawings from my friends that I plan on pinning up on the wall by my desk, and I may even be daring and tack some of my own art there too, if there's something particularly nice that I think should be shown, at least, lol.
Our first week in classes was a real hard hit, and I'll have to go a little more into that when I have the time. Right now I'm taking a break from homework ( I needed it, lol!) But for now, it's really nice to have a clean living space, and it's even better to be sharing it with my Dee Jay.
I hope to be able to at least read posts more often. And thanks everyone that helped us out this summer and for our move. We appreciate it greatly!!
